We visit Ickworth House (National Trust, admission extra). Built as an 18th century Italian style showcase for the Hervey family’s collections of Georgian silver, Regency furniture, books and fine paintings – the grand central Rotunda dominates the landscape.
Also enjoy some time to explore Bury st Edmunds (coach will set down in the centre). A traditional market town with a fascinating heritage, there is a pleasing combination of medieval architecture, elegant Georgian squares and the glorious Cathedral and Abbey Gardens.
Why not pop into The Nutshell, Britain’s smallest pub!
