Today we head to Waddesdon Manor to explore the mansion house and one of the most exceptional collections of French 18th century arts and portraits in the world. Waddesdon prides itself on its spring flower displays and a visit would not be complete without touring the gardens. This afternoon experience Wrest Park and view their formal gardens and fascinating history dating back over 150 years, the gardens were originally inspired by the great gardens of Versailles in France.
St Albans Cathedral
We visit the beautiful Jacobean Hatfield House, home of the first Earl of Salisbury and Chief Minister to King James I from 1607 to 1611. There is a marvellous collection of pictures, furnishings and historic armour to discover and the grounds offer wonderful gardens to explore. This afternoon we visit Roman St Albans and the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain, here our guide will join us for a tour of the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban. Following a tour of the Cathedral you can explore the Roman museums, excellent shopping, fascinating history, there is something here for everyone.
Knebworth House and Gardens, Hertfordshire
A day will be spent visiting Knebworth House and Gardens, whilst famous worldwide for its rock concerts, Knebworth is home to the Lytton Cobbold family who have owned the house for over 500 years. The house has a fine collection of textiles, paintings and furniture plus formal gardens not be missed!
